great product, I work IT and at my job they use dell PC's so I buy Dell PC's and my experience has been the same as at work. Dell PC's in general are sturdy built machine, You get what the description says you get but it's all put together in a sleek durable case that stands up to abuse. I have a similar 15 series laptop I had before this when I chose to upgrade. I broke the screen on this one and canibalized the screen from the old laptop which was a pain but went together easier then most laptops and except for a glitch from not taping it right the screen is perfect, RAM and CPU is easy to get to. I even swapped out the CD tray with a 2.5" drive tray thats a generic one off amazon and is the smallest of the standard sizes. I am running Linux Mint 17 which with the SSD I swapped the HDD for runs snappy with a 10s boot time and low RAM usage, Windows 8 was the first thing to go but it was shiny while it was there. The battery life with LM17.1 was about 3-4 hours with the bluetooth/wifi running and moderate use. Definitely a great option I work IT at a hospital and am a full time student and between Linux and this Laptop I'm covered for what I'm doing

I bought this laptop originally to be used as a tool for college. It works great for looking up lectures, emailing, word, etc., but since I might as well and do more I did. I am currently downloading two games at the same time (battlefield 3 and GW2) a total of 3.2 Mb/s speed while I am listening to music on Rdio and doing online homework for a class. So far this laptop is not running slowly and is quickly switching between task that I command it to. While doing this unplugged, the battery lasted me for a 3.5 hours on Dell / high performance mode! (I have to explain that later.

Now some may wonder, why doesn't my Dell Inspiron do that? Well you have to understand that factory settings put your laptop in Dell mode ( which turns to battery saving mode on unplugged and high performance plugged in the AC adapter). You can customize the Dell mode, which I highly recommend, by clicking the battery button on the bottom right of desktop mode. Click customize it and go to advanced settings. Then for plug in options ofGraphics card and network card, put them both on Max performance. This will increase your max download speed of .5 kb to some number higher than 10 Mb and it will overclock the graphics card for you. You can do the same with the CPU but I think that it is on Max Performance when plugged in.

So basically this mode will give you a better performance when plugged in and it will be on battery saving mode when not. Normally the battery will last for 5-7 hours!

The CPU is on standard 1.8 Ghz and on turbo is 2.7 Ghz on High Performance mode (on battery settings) or plugged in AC on Dell mode. This laptop can handle Minecraft easily and I'm sure it can perform WoW easily as well. I've read that it can play Battlefield 3 on low settings of around 30 fps. If this is true than I am sure that it can run GW2 around 40-60 fps on medium and maybe red orchestra 2 on 30 fps at medium.

I'm sorry to say that this is only my second day with this laptop, but I have downloaded it and used it frequently and hard during these last two days. I'll keep updating if I can.

So all in all, this laptop is great for its price! The keyboard is ok and you may get typos with it until you get used to it. Honestly I'm starting to like Win 8 more than 7 right now, since noticing that it runs very smoothly.

P.S. win 8 is beta, win 9 should be the real deal

Update 10/11/13:

So far this laptop is still working great! Sometimes while typing, you may not press the spacebar correctly as it may need more force than other laptops (slightly more force), but you will get used to it and it seems great still!

I have played GW2 many times and it runs on 20-30 fps on low settings in dungeons and it plays WoW easily, but remember this isn't a gaming laptop so the fact that you can even play those type of graphic games and lower is a plus to this laptop. So far this laptop is great and it is very sufficient for my needs as a college student who writes papers, does math hw while switching between pdf files and apps, while listening to music and sometimes videos as well at the same time. The battery life is awesome! I usually try to keep it unplugged so that the battery can drain all the way down (which is recommended to drain the battery sometimes so that the battery life stays longer) and this usually takes atleast 4-7 hours on dell mode or battery saving mode, which still lets me perform all the task I need to do very well.

BTW, some people are giving negative reviews because of the condition their used laptops came in. Just make sure the feedback review for the company is 95% or higher and you'll most likely get a good condition laptop like I did. If you don't just return it and replace it. This laptop deserves atleast 4.5 out of 5 stars!

Good on paper, has awesome keyboard, awesome looks, feel, and awesome feeling mousepad and buttons. (i hate those 1 click pads, i need seperate buttons!)

its a little low on the specs, its an older gen i5 (not that big of a deal), and only 4GB of ram. these laptops also come with the s***** of hard drives (i planned to upgrade it)

however, upon receiving this, I was unable to get it to power on. overall i suspect this laptop to be OK, but the failure rate seems to be pretty high. I am returning mine and getting a refund and going with something else. this was supposed to be for my Mother-In-Law (she wanted something and was going to pay me to buy something for her).

a note on dell support, they weren't bad or anything, but they were trying to upsell me on warranties (i just politely told them no) and to have me return it with a 3+ week wait for shipping/maintenance. I'd rather opt to just return it to amazon, as it would be faster for me to go through 3-4 laptops from amazon than wait for *possible* repairs.

it's going back to the seller, and I'll be getting something that hopefully wont be DOA.

I have had nothing but problems with this computer.I have had this less than 90 days. Dell has sent two reps to fix this....replaced mother board and the hand rest.My wife has spent over 12 hours on the phone with Dell....the touch pad doesn't work now and neither does the wireless....but Dell will not allow us to send it to them to get it fixed.All they want to do is get you on the phone and after being on the phone over 2 hours trying various things...which has over 5 different times...they don't understand why you are frustrated.All we wanted was an address from them to send it to get it fixed.They have refused.My sister had the same problem with her Dell.Dell use to be a decent vendor...them and their products have gone downhill.Amazon wasn't much support either since it wasn't returned within 30 days.We followed the instructions and contacted Dell and tried working with them but our 30 days went by while trying to get this piece of junk fixed.My recommendation is if you buy a Dell through Amazon and have a problem with it....send it back immediately.
