I bought these for my four-year-old grandson. This was the third pair of scissors I tried with him, and they helped him learn to enjoy activities involving scissors.Their ergonomic design gently guides his hand into the proper position. The lower handle loop is pretty large on these scissors. That lets my grandson use all his fingers to control the scissors. This makes a huge difference for a young child who has not practiced enough to develop strength in the muscles needed for scissor action and who is still developing fine motor skills. I have observed his hand muscles getting stronger as he keeps practicing, but he didn’t want to practice when he had scissors with two identical handle loops. Identical handle loops made cutting a real struggle for him and confused himabout how to properly hold the scissors; these problems vanished with the kids’ Fiskars. Crafts involving scissors are now among his favorite things to do.
Another advantage to the relatively large handles led to me purchasing a second pair soon after the first pair arrived. Although they are not as comfortable for adults as adult-sized scissors, both my husband and I are able to use these kids’ Fiskars, so we are able to do scissors projects with our grandson. My own adult scissors are super, super sharp, and I don’t want them anywhere around a preschooler, plus I don’t want to dull them cutting paper, so I’m glad our adult-sized fingers can fit into the handles of these children’s scissors.
Be advised that although these kids’ Fiskars can be ordered with blunt tips to increase safety, the blades themselves are sharper than most children’s scissors, though the blades are specially angled to increase safety. Although I feel confident in the safety of letting my grandson keep his other style of children’s scissors in his own desk drawer, these Fiskars scissors live in the family project drawer and are only used with adult supervision. Because they are sharp enough to be effective, they are less frustrating to use than most other children’s scissors. The potential downside is that this also gives them the power to cut cloth or skin or hair if you work at it, although we have never had that happen in the eight months these two pair of kids’ Fiskars have been in our home. Know your child and supervise him or her until your child develops the maturity and wisdom to use these scissors responsibly. The description recommends ages four and up, but, as I said, know your child.
I have noticed that now my grandson ALWAYS comes to me or Grandpa and asks for supervision, rather than using either of the less effective scissors he is allowed to keep in his own desk drawer. Its probably time to do a little decluttering and move the less effective scissors out of our lives. Our two pairs of blunt tip Fiskars get more use by both kids and adults than any other scissors in our household. Highly recommend, but supervise young children.
As a former kindergarten teacher of 25 years, Fiskars are the scissors to buy. For ages 5 and up I prefer the pointed tip, but I bought these for my 2 1/2 year old grandson.I also bought another brand of plastic safety scissors, but just incase I bought these blunt tip as well. I was right.The plastic just frustrated us both.These are sharp, and should only be used with supervised cutting with a young child.But I remained convinced Fiskars are the best.
They go nicely in a sewing kit. I was making needle cases for family and friends. Wanted to add extras that didn’t cost a fortune. I added a pocket but didn’t want to have to worry about the point of the scissors going through the material. Tried these hoping they’d still be sharp enough to cut. They are. Even had one of my sisters comment on how well they cut.

I bought this for my two year old. I received a light blue one. She’s learning how to cut using this scissors and "Let’s Cut Paper! (Kumon First Steps Workbooks)" book. So far it is working for her. It cuts very well; ie. if you were to cut wrapping paper, it will probably cut through without you opening/closing the scissors.
I also tried to cut paper with left hand, and it works just fine.
= Update Feb 18, 2016 = We haven’t used it for a while, but now my daughter is 3 and started to use scissors in her preschool. I brought this one out again for her to use at home. With other scissors we have at home, it is easier to open and close. Not with this one. She needed to use both hand to open and close with this one. With that reason, I’m taking one star off.
I bought these for trimming my small dog and they work quite well for that.The rounded tips are nice as they will not puncture her if she isn’t happy while getting trimmed.
They are small but sold for children so I can’t complain.I can still use them despite my large hands.
Only downside is the lack of color selection.I received hot pink which goes with my female dog, not so much with me.

Very pleased with these scissors. Works well for older kids as the handle is sized for growing hands. The scissors are made of stainless steel, so they are less likely to corrode or rust. I accidentally got a little water on them & was worried about rust spots, but it has held up very well.
The blades are very sharp & cuts through anything from paper to cardboard with a nice, clean straight cut. The overall weight of the scissors is very light and comfortable & I had no issue holding it for long periods of time.
I've noticed many complaints about not being able to choose the color, which wasn't an issue for me. I actually received a neutral color. Shipping was fast.
Overall I'm quite satisfied with these scissors and would certainly purchase again.

I am a serial crafter, so I've gone thru my share of scissors. A good test of a quality scissor, for me, is to do conduct my "one snip" test. I cut foam, I cut card stock, ribbon, fabric, a cardboard box, small gauge wire, a plastic pouch, and an aluminum soda can. I am happy to report that these scissors cut beautifully. As for their construction, they feel very study. I like the fact that it is held together by a center screw instead of a post. I imagine this would allow one to re adjust the scissors or take them apart to clear off any gunk, glue or craft medium that may get under the axis pointI own a lot of scissors. None of my other scissors have this feature and I can appreciate the options it affords me. These scissors are a definite win!
As a part time tutor of pre-teen students, I think these scissors would be ideal for my students to use to construct collages and mood boards to inspire their creative writing projects. Many times students will need to cut through thicker materials such as fabric and poster board and these scissors cut these materials with ease, leaving no jagged edges. The scissors' handle is appropriately sized for smaller hands so students could manipulate the scissors easily, but the blade is sharp enough for craft projects bigger kids will want to complete. The smooth texture of the handle and stainless steel blades make them easy to clean, which is a nice bonus because my nice and nephew are messy and I want to use these scissors too!
